SOWING ... Plant BIG MAX pumpkin seed outdoors in late spring when ground is warm and all danger of frost is past. Make a group of 4 to 6 pumpkin seeds placed in a ring about 2 inches across; cover with 1/2 inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Each ring of pumpkin seeds is called a hill and hills should be spaced 6 to 10 feet apart each way.
THINNING ... When BIG MAX pumpkin plants are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin leaving the 3 strongest plants in each hill.
GERMINATION ... BIG MAX pumpkin seed germinates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and weather conditions.
REMARKS ... BIG MAX pumpkins may also be planted in rows 6 to 10 feet apart, spacing plants 2 to 3 feet apart in the row. Pumpkins may also be planted in among the corn. Cut these large BIG MAX pumpkins from vines with pruning shears, leaving 3 to 4 inches of the stem. Handle them carefully.
