Paine Products Arias Windchimes

After a short respite from what proved to be a hectic three month period, we've finally put our heads together to make decisions about new products for 2003. Yankee Harvest added a wonderful line of incense from Paine Products in Maine for the holidays, however the response was so overwhelming we've decided to not only to keep it on a permanent basis, but to expand upon it as well. Many new Paine Products will join the existing items on the Country Store shelves, including beautifully crafted Incense Boxes with exquisite design and detail, and richly scented hot pads, sachets and draft stops. We've also created four distinctive collections which include these lovely new items ... perfect for chasing away the winter blues, ideal for that very special birthday, anniversary or valentine gift or as an eye catching addition to your interior decor.

Also new to Yankee Harvest is an addition to our wonderful Arias Windchimes. Our best seller, Chapel Bells, has been expanded to include what we lovingly call the Colors of the Earth ... exquisite gold and copper-bronze joined by the woodsy colors of nature ... rich forest green and deep brown. In addition, there is a surprise or two around the corner. We are putting out a MOOSE ALERT. In conjunction with our Great Northern Lodge Collection from Yankee Harvest and Paine Products, we have begun the Adopt a Moose Program. Sheila's Select Cloud County Herbal Teas

The shelves of Yankee Grocery are always expanding to accommodate new, interesting and tasty delights. The addition of Sheila's Select, Autumn Harvest Gourmet Foods and the specialty Gourmet Coffees and Teas for Christmas (on our Yankee Harvest Christmas Gifts page) has been an unqualified success. The Amore Cocoas, always a winter treat, are available year round. Ashby's, one of the oldest and best known brands of pure English Tea, will become a staple of Yankee Grocery. We plan on expanding the coffee, tea and cocoa area to include more great gourmet delights to warm your senses and start, or finish, your busy day.

We have plans for adding to the Sheila's Select section ... they have, by the way, deleted two of their soup selections to make way for a new product line. Chuck Wagon Chili and Minestrone will only be available as long as our supply lasts. Once our supply has been depleted, these items will be removed from the Sheila's portion of our website. So if any of you love either of these soups, we suggest that you stock up now.

Getting back to teatime ... we have just added a great new product that we are very excited about. Cloud County Herbal Tea has recently joined our family of quality items. These teas are created from the finest spices, fruits, and tea blends available anywhere. They are completely natural, caffeine free, with absolutely no fillers or preservatives. The aroma and taste are far superior to any other herbal tea we have tried (and we have several die-hard tea drinkers on staff). Just the fragrance alone is heavenly, but add hot water and what you will have is an experience that must be tried to be believed. Cloud County Teas have earned a reputation for being the premium in herbal teas and have been shipped worldwide. No, it won't be long before Yankee Halloween becomes the center of attention once again. We had a memorable Halloween season in 2002, which included, for the first time, Pumpkin Friends Gallery. We had many great contributors to the Gallery ... stuff really worth seeing if you are a Halloween buff. It was a lot of fun and we will post your prize Halloween pics anytime for all of the word to see.

The brainstorming process has begun, however, and tips and ideas for what you might like to see are always welcome. We are sure that Pumpkin Masters has a few new, great ideas for the upcoming season so we will be updating their portion of the site as soon as we get the scoop. The projected time line for the NEW AND UPDATED Yankee Halloween is July 1st give or take. It has been interesting to note that Yankee Halloween seemed to be a point of interest this holiday season. We can only assume that a lot of people received brain molds and Pumpkin Masters CD's for Christmas. That's okay. The Graveside Store is open 365 days a year. It never hurts to order early or give the gift of Halloween to someone that truly enjoys the autumn holidays. You are always welcome at the Graveside Store. Just brush away the cobwebs, turn up the speakers and take a look around.

Our recipe of the month is an old, traditional winter favorite. Yes, you can open a bag or box, add water and set it on the stove, but there is nothing like the real thing, the kind your mother and grandmother used to make, the kind childhood memories are made of. Hearty, gooey, stick-to-the-ribs, delicious MACARONI AND CHEESE with BAKED, STUFFED TOMATOES. Here it is.

• About 2 cups raw elbow macaroni
• 2 tablespoons grated raw onion
• 1 Tsp salt
• 1/4 Tsp pepper
• 3 to 3 1/2 cups shredded sharp American or cheddar cheese, or a combination of the two
• 2 cups thin white sauce
• 1 tablespoon butter or margarine

Thin White Sauce

• 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
• 2 tablespoons flour
• Dash salt to taste
• 1/4 Tsp pepper
• 2 cups of milk

Melt butter in heavy saucepan. Add flour and mix. Add milk VERY SLOWLY, mixing continuously until smooth and free of any small lumps. Add remaining milk and cook until just boiling. Do not stop stirring during the entire process. Once the mixture has reached the boiling point remove from heat and salt and pepper to taste. This is a basic white sauce used for many creamed dishes.

Baked Stuffed Tomatoes

• 6 medium tomatoes
• 1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
• 1/4 cup good grated Romano or Parmesan cheese
• 1/3 cup croutons
• 1 Tsp salt
• Crumbled, crisply fried bacon
• Parsley sprigs for garnish

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Wash tomatoes; remove stem ends and remove the pulp from each tomato. Leave about a 1/4 inch wall. Chop pulp and combine with all ingredients except parsley. Fill tomatoes and place in an ungreased baking dish. Bake approx. 20 to 25 minutes until tomatoes are thoroughly heated through. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
