Fresh Strawberry and Watermelon Frozen Treats for Children.
Great
summer treats for your children or a special party time.
Have the children help you with this delightful summer time recipe.
1 ripe fresh Watermelon, picked from the watermelon patch.
1 pint fresh picked strawberries, picked from the strawberry patch.
1/4 cup fresh squeezed Lemon Juice.
1/3 cup granulated sugar.
- Scoop out the red watermelon flesh and put into a large mixing bowl.
- Remove seeds and mash the watermelon until smooth.
- Clean and hull the fresh picked strawberries.
- Mash the strawberries and add to the mixing bowl.
- Add the lemon juice and granulated sugar.
- Give the kids a wooden spoon.
- Have them mix, until all the ingredients are blended together.
HINT: When the kids get tired mixing, use a blender or food processor, and puree until smooth. - Pour the blended mixture into several or more ice cube trays.
- Freeze overnight. Freezing the strawberries and watermelon allows the natural fruit to retain their full flavors.
Serve the frozen strawberry and watermelon treats to the children, during the lazy summer afternoons.
If you are in an area without watermelon or it is out of season, we offer the following helpful recipe.
3 cups frozen chopped seedless watermelon, partly thawed.
1 cup frozen quartered unsweetened strawberries, thawed.
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice.
2 tablespoons granulated sugar.
Mix the four (4) ingredients in a blender or food processor, and puree until smooth.
Pour into several ice cube trays.
Freeze overnight. Makes a cool and refreshing treat...!
